Getting started
How do I get started?
Send a short message with your name, how to reach you, and a general description of the matter. Leave out confidential details for now. Before discussing specifics, Steven will need the names of the other people involved to check for conflicts of interest.
How quickly will I hear back?
Steven replies to new inquiries within one business day. If your matter has a deadline, say so in the first message.
Does contacting Hargrove Law make me a client?
No. An inquiry does not create an attorney-client relationship. Representation begins only after the matter is accepted and the engagement is agreed in writing.
What if a deadline is coming up?
Say so in your first message. If the deadline is days away, do not wait for a reply; the California Courts and the State Bar list other ways to find help quickly.
The practice
Where is the office?
1400 Newport Center Drive, Suite 275, Newport Beach. Meetings are by appointment, in person or by phone or video.
Do you handle matters outside Orange County?
Social Security disability appeals are handled nationwide; Social Security permits eligible attorneys in good standing who register with the agency to represent claimants anywhere in the country, and hearings can be held by phone or online video. Other matters are handled under California law. Many can be managed by phone and video, and court appearances elsewhere in the state are discussed case by case.
Who will work on my matter?
If Hargrove Law accepts your matter, Steven Hargrove is your lawyer and is responsible for the work described in your engagement agreement. For some tasks, such as a routine court appearance in another county, he may work with another licensed California attorney. You will be told when another attorney is going to appear or do significant work on your matter.
Is Hargrove Law affiliated with a government agency?
No. Hargrove Law is independent and is not affiliated with the Social Security Administration or any other government agency.
Fees
What does a consultation cost?
It depends on the matter. You will know whether there is a charge before anything is scheduled.
How are fees set?
Fees depend on the type of matter and the scope of the work. The arrangement is set out in a written agreement before work begins.
Still have a question?
